Children Centres is an idea that has developed from the Sure Start programme.  The Government's plan is to have services for families with young children all under one roof or within a short distance of each other – making valuable community services much more accessible to families. National targets have been set up whereby there will be 17 new Centres in Croydon between 2006 – 2008.  These are in addition to existing ones; making 28 Centres in total. Some Centres will be brand new buildings, others already exist.

Crèche facilities are also on site to support parents taking part in family learning, basic skills, ICT suite and other training that will is on offer from the Centre.

A part-time teacher is employed to work as part of the early education and integrated day care provision.  It is envisaged that the post-holder will work with both the Nursery and Pre-school provision.
